Contrary to popular belief, modernism didn't abruptly stop when the 1980s came around, in fact, it was alive and well in the world of commercial real estate and architecture during the 1980s - and there are more modern homes built around Denver in the 1980s than you might think. Modernism of the 1980s in the area did have some traditional elements to make the homes more appealing to the average homebuyer, so you will see finish elements like oak cabinets, doors, and trim with raised panels, polished brass hardware, and wall-to-wall carpet - but at the core, these homes are modern buildings, with their open floorplans, high vaulted ceilings, large windows, and more. Spacious condos and townhomes were also a popular housing choice during the 1980s, and you will find plenty of attractive modernist options there too. I believe there will be increased interest in the spacious modernism that 1980s modern homes offer in the years to come.

Note: There are also several homes from the late-1970s in this list. Because the ideas present in 1980s modernism didn’t have a hard start right on January 1st, 1980, whenever I see a late-’70s modernist home come up for sale that I feel has more elements of ’80s modern design than it does mid-century modern design, I put it in this list instead.
